The chrysanthemum symbolises autumn. It is the flower that ‘defies the frost’. In the East, the chrysanthemum is traditionally associated with life and happiness.

On the left is the calligraphic character “Butsu”, meaning Buddha.
The red seal beneath the calligraphy reads “Gyo”: to practise, to repeat.
Rice paper, stiff and thin.
The colours are produced using coloured inks.
To frame the artwork:
Although the rice paper has a backing, it remains delicate and dust tends to settle on it, so we recommend placing it under glass.
You can choose a simple frame that complements the minimalist style of the painting, or opt to add a passe-partout first.
