    Classic subjects of Sumi-e painting:

Master Mokuza primarily creates works depicting the 4 Nobles: bamboo, orchid, plum blossom and chrysanthemum. They symbolise the 4 seasons, the 4 ages of man and KI, the vital energy.

Over the years he has also specialised in Zen-related painting subjects, such as the enso (the circle) and various calligraphies.

He also paints various animals including: the Japanese crane, pandas, small birds, the stylised cat, the dragonfly, and other minor subjects such as wisteria, pine, iris, etc.
